Self-criticism is a critical psychological construct which is directly associated with depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation particularly among adolescents. Adolescents is the critical time period which is marked by intense emotional changes. The current study aimed to translate and validated self-rating scale of self-criticism developed by Hooley et al., (2010) with adolescents 15-18 years of age. The scale was translated using Brislin (1970) back translation method. The data was collected from 300 adolescents. SPSS and AMOS 21 was used to analyze data. Alpha reliability of the scale was found to be .747 which falls within acceptable range (α = .747). CFA supported a single-factor structure with standardized factor loadings ranging from .20 to .83 and good model fit indices for the modified model (χ²/df = 2.11, CFI = .97, GFI = .97, RMSEA = .06). These findings suggest that the Urdu version is a reliable and valid measure of self-criticism in adolescents and can be used in research and clinical settings.
