Indicators of river quality are linked to a wide variety of health issues such as respiratory conditions (asthma), viral conditions (dengue, typhoid) gastrointestinal conditions (including constipation, diarrhea, and ulcers), hair loss, allergies, and renal diseases in weak or moderate ways.
